Biography
Marilyn L. Bardie Kapaun practices domestic relations law as an attorney in the Family Law practice of Bovis, Kyle & Burch, LLC (BKB Family Law) and also teaches law as a Professor at Georgia State University in the undergraduate program. Marilyn attended law school at Indiana University in Bloomington, where she was awarded two fellowships based on superior writing and scholastic achievement. She has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1992 and is a member of the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar. Prior to law school, she graduated from the University of Illinois, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in both Rhetoric/English and Political Science.
Prior to working for Bovis, Kyle & Burch, she was a Marketing Executive for two international high tech conglomerates and worked as Editor in Chief of a high tech magazine. She won the Editorial Excellence award in 1997 for being one of the Top 50 Editors in the United States.
Marilyn divides her time equally between practicing law in the area of domestic relations (i.e., divorce, custody, modifications) and teaching law at Georgia State University. Her article on "The Criminal Law Handbook" was published in Georgia State University's September 2007 edition of The Criminal Justice Review. She has also appeared as a speaker to The Forsyth Bar on Legal Writing, as a Judge for the William Daniel National Invitational Mock Trial, and as a radio personality on Radio Sandy Springs to discuss divorce and custody topics. In domestic relations, Marilyn specializes in preparing witnesses for trial and evaluating jury issues.
