Charles McCall Medlin joined the firm as an attorney in May of 1990 after clerking for the firm in 1989. He was made a partner on January 1, 1997. Mr. Medlin’s practice is devoted to civil litigation, with particular emphasis on family law/domestic relations, contracts, and torts. Mr. Medlin heads the family law section of the firm. Mr. Medlin’s Martindale-Hubbell rating is the highest rating awarded,"Av".
College: Mr. Medlin received his Undergraduate degree at Duke University (B.A.), where he graduated magna cum laude in 1982. While a student, he was extremely active on the Duke Debate Team (1979-82) and served as Captain of the team in 1982 when his team received national recognition including a Top Ten Ranking. He also received the highly coveted award of Student Speaker of the Year in 1982 and spoke at the Duke Chapel at an annually held event.
Law School: Mr. Medlin graduated from the University of North Carolina (J.D.), with honors, in 1990. At UNC, he was awarded the Van Hecke Scholarship, and he remained a Van Hecke scholar during each year he was in law school. He was selected by his professors to be an assistant teacher during his second and third years in law school. He was also chosen for the Holderness Moot Court where he was a Member and also competed on several teams, winning a southeastern regional championship and advancing to Nationals and placing second in another competition. During law school he received the esteemed American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure for achieving the highest grade in his class out of 105 students.
Mr. Medlin graduated from school and returned to the Atlanta area to practice law within five minutes of where he was raised. When he passed the Bar Examination, he achieved the highest grade of all 897 applicants that year in the area of Torts. The Bovis, Kyle & Burch, LLC primary offices are also within five minutes of his alma mater, Peachtree High School, where he graduated with honors in 1979 and where he served as the President of the Student Body in his senior year.
Mr. Medlin attended seminary at Southwestern Theological Seminary and Southeastern Theological Seminary for two years. As a practicing lawyer, he was chosen as a member in Who's Who Among American Lawyers in 1994. He is a member in the Georgia Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association (Member, Family Law Section), the Forsyth County Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Old Warhorse Club, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He is a certified Guardian Ad Litem and Mediator. He actively mediates divorce cases for other lawyers.
Mr. Medlin has taught and coached numerous mock trial teams in the Southeast, and he actively donates his time serving as a presiding judge for ongoing competitions on the regional, state, and national level.

BKB Family Law Satellite Office in Forsyth County/Cumming, Georgia
The firm maintains a satellite office which opened in 2006 in Forsyth County in the heart of Cumming, Georgia, which is a fast-growing county 20 miles north of the perimeter of Atlanta. The office serves the firm’s expanding family law practice and is located at 327 Dahlonega Street, Suite 801, Cumming, Georgia 30040 in the Tanyard Oaks business park, just a block from the courthouse. Some other clients and practice areas will also be handled on an “as needed basis” there. Mr. Medlin keeps regular hours there on Mondays and Fridays, and other days as Court schedules and clients’ needs dictate. The same telephone numbers are effective at both offices.
