Partner David Harris Becomes Member of South Carolina Bar

On May 16, Bovis Kyle partner David Harris took the attorney’s oath and became a member of the South Carolina bar. Already admitted in North Carolina and Georgia, David took the bar exam and satisfied the several other requirements to become licensed in South Carolina as well. Now he will be able to leverage the firm’s location in Charleston as well as its staffed office in Greensboro, NC to provide representation to our surety clients in three jurisdictions.

Three lines from the Lawyer's Oath jumped out. They speak of the relational commitments an attorney makes to the court, to clients, and to opposing counsel:
I will maintain the respect and courtesy due to courts of justice, judicial officers, and those who assist them;
To my clients, I pledge faithfulness, competence, diligence, good judgment and prompt communication;
To opposing parties and their counsel, I pledge fairness, integrity, and civility, not only in court, but also in all written and oral communications.
I hope that in the nearly 16 years I've been a member of the Georgia and North Carolina bars I have met these commitments. I pledged today that I would do so going forward. Keep me accountable.
