Jimmy, a native Atlantan and Member of the firm, was born November 18, 1957 and admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1982. Admitted to the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia in 1982, he is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Claims Court, and was sworn into the United States Supreme Court in 1988. He received his B.A. from Mercer University in 1979, and graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, cum laude, in 1982, where he was on the State and National Trial Practice Teams. He is a former Barrister in the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court, and is now a National Member of the American Inns of Court.

Currently a vice president of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, he has chaired the Environmental Committee, the Mid-Year CLE Committee, the Amicus Curiae Committee, and serves as editor of the Law Journal. He also is a member of the Litigation, Insurance, and Product Liability Practice Sections of the Georgia Bar and the Product Liability sections of the Defense Research Institute. Locally he is a member of the Atlanta Claims Association and Southern Loss Association. He has spoken on product liability, ethics, professionalism, evidentiary matters, mediation, and insurance issues.

As a trial lawyer with a heavy emphasis on product liability, general litigation, environmental, and insurance coverage issues, his practice extends beyond Georgia. He has been lead counsel and admitted to practice pro hac vice in over 20 states.

Jimmy is also a mediator registered with the Georgia Supreme Court through the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. He mediates all manner of civil disputes, but in light of his background and practice experience, primarily mediates disputes involving general litigation, product liability, environmental, insurance coverage, employment, general business and corporate matters, and contract disputes.

Jimmy lives with his wife, son, and two daughters in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, where he is very active in his church and the community. He has chaired numerous boards and committees within his church and currently serves as chair of the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee and as a youth and adult Sunday School teacher and devotional leader. He also founded and has served on the Board of Directors of a 501(c)3 educational foundation, and is active in the Boy Scouts and as a coach for his children’s sports teams.
