31st Annual Surety Claims Institute Panel Discussion and Paper Presentation:
On June 22,
Jack Burch participated in a panel discussion of the performance-bond surety's takeover of a defaulted project at the 31st Annual Surety Claims Institute in Brewster, Massachusetts. The panel included public and private owners' representatives, allowing the two most significant players in the process to engage in a rare dialogue about completing distressed construction jobs. 17th Southern Surety & Fidelity Claims Association, LLC Meeting:
In May 2006, BKB co-hosted the 17th Southern Surety & Fidelity Claims Association, LLC meeting at the Don Cesar Hotel, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Jack Burch lead a workshop on Fidelity problems and cases.
Greg Veal spoke on “Capitalized Interest as Potential Income Under the FIB: Don't Roll Over on Rolled Over Interest.“
Christina Craddock presented a paper on “Pursuit and Preservation of Pre and Post Default Claims Against the United States Government“. BKB's Surety & Fidelity department is a founding member of the Southern Surety & Fidelity Claims Association, LLC, which is in its 17th year of existence.
