Stephen “Steve” Cohen is a partner in the Atlanta office whose practice focuses on the defense of motor carriers, commercial drivers, and law enforcement officers in Georgia. Steve has over a decade of experience defending commercial drivers in various capacities, including tractor-trailer, interstate/intrastate motorcoach, ride-share transportation, limousine, and heavy equipment operators.

Prior to the practice of law, and while attending law school part-time, Steve spent over 7 years as a claims adjuster with a commercial automobile liability insurer where he handled a variety of third-party liability claims. These ranged from property damage, hazmat spills personal injury, and wrongful death exposures. His experience in the insurance industry provides valuable insight for evaluating and defending claims brought against the transportation industry.

In addition to defending motor carriers through litigation, Steve also provides pre-litigation rapid response services to his motor carrier clients in the event of a catastrophic collision. Steve and his team are available 24-hours per day to provide this service for his clients and their insurers.

Before insurance and litigation, Steve was a police officer in Athens, Georgia. This experience provided him with the knowledge base to represent law enforcement officers when faced with claims of wrongful arrest, excessive force, and other constitutional violations. On numerous occasions, Steve secured summary judgment for law enforcement officers when faced with these claims.
