Laura has over 25 years of experience counseling and defending clients in matters related to insurance coverage, insurance defense, construction disputes, and other civil litigation. She focuses her practice on representing insurers in insurance coverage litigation arising under a variety of policies, including, but not limited to, commercial general liability, homeowners, automobile, commercial property, umbrella/excess policies, sexual and physical abuse and molestation coverage, environmental, mold and fungi property coverage. She also has experience in general liability defense spanning motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, homeowners association disputes, and more. Laura has first-chaired jury and bench trials, argued hundreds of motions, and managed cases from inception through trial.

Laura also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Campbell Law School, teaching and mentoring students in the art of Legal Research and Writing.

As a Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP), Laura has presented on a national level with CLM regarding insurance coverage matters and other topics relevant to the insurance industry. In addition to her years in private practice, Laura draws on experience as a former staff attorney with Fulton County Superior Court, Georgia, and as a former civilian staff member of the North Carolina National Guard, where she provided soldiers and their families with information regarding family law, consumer law, estate planning/administration, taxes, immigration, landlord/tenant issues, and military law.

Laura is licensed and active in North Carolina and Georgia.

Laura received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and her juris doctor from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. While attending law school, she was a founding member of the Board of Advocates and served as the managing editor of the Public Interest Law Journal formerly known as the Poverty Law Journal.

In her free time, Laura enjoys giving back to her community by serving on the Board of Purple Heart Homes, Inc., a Veterans Nonprofit, serving on the Board of the NC Association of Women Attorneys, walking with her dog, Scout, going to Taekwondo classes, and doing lots of fun outdoor activities with her husband and two teenage boys.
